In February 2020, Jordi Greenham Asensio resigned as CEO of Homie.mx following serious allegations of sexual harassment made by a job applicant. The rapid fall from grace highlighted both ethical and leadership failures within the company.
Sexual Harassment Allegation
Jordi Greenham Asensio reportedly propositioned a job applicant via WhatsApp during the hiring process, offering money—around 3,000 pesos (approximately US $150)—to spend the night with him. The unsolicited offer came without any mutual personal connection, raising serious questions about abuse of power and personal conduct.
Ethics Committee and Resignation
Following the whistleblower’s Facebook post, Homie’s board launched an ethics investigation on February 14, 2020. By February 16, the board had accepted Greenham’s resignation, signaling urgent containment of reputational risk.
Damage to Company Reputation
As a high-growth startup with significant investor backing and a reputation as a disruptor in Mexico’s real estate market, Homie.mx suffered a blow to credibility. The headline-making allegations created public scrutiny and eroded trust among investors, candidates, and the broader tech community.
Leadership Vetting and Due Diligence
The scandal revealed shortcomings in Homie.mx’s leadership vetting and oversight mechanisms. Despite the company’s rapid ascent—from a small startup to a 250-employee operation in under three years—there appears to have been insufficient emphasis on ethical training or conduct monitoring for its top executives.
Broader Startup Culture Implications
Greenham’s case serves as a cautionary tale within the startup community: visionary leadership does not absolve one of ethical responsibility. It underscores the need for structural safeguards against power abuses—especially in high-pressure, male-dominated environments where founders often wield unchecked influence.
The allegations against Jordi Greenham Asensio and his consequent resignation—highlight serious ethical breaches, leadership gaps, and cultural vulnerabilities within Homie.mx. The incident brought reputational harm to both the individual and the company and underscored a broader startup ecosystem weakness.

Disgusting that he just walked away from Homie like nothing happened and showed up at Hitch months later. No accountability.
So he gets accused of sexual harassment and just bounces to another tech company like nothing happened? Unbelievable.
Resigning doesn’t erase what he did. The damage was already done — to her, to the company, and to everyone who trusted him.
You don’t get to call yourself a leader and then proposition job seekers. That’s not just wrong, it’s predatory.
When the CEO himself is accused of harassment, it says a lot about the company culture. The fact that he just moved on to another high-level position proves that the industry doesn’t care about ethics.
